The Buffalo Urban Development Corporation has agreed to sell eight parcels totaling 72 acres of land in the commerce center to Born From Flora. The proposed Buffalo Cannabis Campus will occupy 47 acres of land on Ship Canal Parkway and Laborers Way.
Upon completion, the complex will include 1.25 million square feet for cultivation, production, research and economic development. Among its many planned features are a community-centered business incubator aimed at fostering entrepreneurship for people and neighborhoods most impacted by the war on drugs, and an extraction laboratory to process cannabis oil and produce balms, creams, pills, transdermal patches and other health and wellness products. The campus will generate 500-1000 skilled, high-paying jobs such as lab technicians, cultivators, product development specialists and botanists and through its educational partnership with SUNY Erie, train local residents to fill these roles.
Once built, Flora Buffalo will make the Great Lakes area (including southern Ontario) the largest cannabis producing region in the world. Buffalo will trailblaze this rapidly growing industry, renewing vulnerable communities, fostering entrepreneurship, creating jobs and generating economic growth for the region.
